Iron Curtain is a long-term DayZ survival server, launched in April 2019.
Its focus is to provide a stable, long-term environment for those that appreciate the survival experience, working with some of the most renowned developers in the modding community and a great number of well-known players to craft the perfect DayZ world.
Privately registered bases and storage ensure server stability and fair gameplay.
Both mods and gameplay mechanics are tweaked for the purest and stable DayZ experience.
Regular base raiding times are scheduled for fair raiding and defense on Saturdays from 4pm - 11pm UTC.
Bases on Iron Curtain must be registered to use storage containers. Storage containers are given to base owners free from admin and cannot be moved or stolen once placed.

Cars spawn on the server at the normal rate, however each car spawns in fully functional with all four wheels and all internals. Water and gas may still be required. In addition, cars are purchasable at the traders. As a result, bases are limited to storing 2 cars.
There are two traders on the map: one for general items with a safe zone for player-to-player trading; one for military items without a safe zone. Trader items and pricing are configured to allow for trading while maintaining a strict survival experience.
Iron Curtain schedules base raiding regularly which allows the gameplay to switch from a traditional DayZ experience to a base raiding/defense mode, giving everyone the chance to fairly raid and defend.
The server opens base raiding on Saturdays from 4pm - 11pm UTC.
Server wipes happen everywhere, leaving players and groups losing hundreds of collective hours in grinding to build their bases.
If you are transferring from another server, you can file with the admin to transfer your base to Iron Curtain to save a portion of the grind. As always, storage containers (tents, barrels, etc) are given free by admin when registering within the Discord and are not found on the map.
Iron Curtain does not wipe. In any given case where the server is forced to wipe (wherein these could be required from the developers for all servers upon major updates), Iron Curtain will reimburse registered base owners to allow them to skip the grind of rebuilding their bases and return to playing the game.
All players and groups seeking a base - including storage (tents, barrels, etc) - must register a charter through the #register_charter channel in the server Discord.
We will offer a transfer package for groups and single players coming from other servers that wipe or have become defunct. Transfer packages will only include ample materials to speed up the grind in order to reproduce the investment of building a base commensurate to where you came from.
Applicants for a transfer package must provide details of the group, its organization, website/discord, players, server you came from and proper evidence of what you had previously (pictures and/or video of your base). An interview will be conducted by admin. Following that, a judgement will be made to allow the transfer package and, if approved, the timeframe in which the construction must be completed. This action is by admin’s discretion based on qualifying elements and the result of the interview.
To register your base, start a ticket within the #register_charter channel with the command "!charter". Be prepared to provide:
1. Your group name (if registering a group, otherwise player name)
2. The number of players in your group along with their SteamIDs
3. The location for the base desired (iZurvive coordinates and description of building)
An admin will coordinate with the charter registrant to meet the player at the location of their base and provide storage containers to the player for themselves or for their group when the player is ready to receive them.
Persistent storage containers are registered to the player/group and must remain in that location. These items are forbidden from being stolen, though items within these containers may be raided legally.
While the server is intended to be long-term, this registration will also server to allow the group to quickly reconstruct the group’s base at the same location should a wipe be required.
No building within military zones.
No building on any airfield.
No building on top of or blocking off any well.
No building to block any major roadway.
Single players and groups will be assigned containers commensurate with their membership count. Containers may not be transferred to another player or group, stolen, nor move from the location designated by the group’s charter.
Allocation formula:
For single players or for the first player in a group: 2 Civilian tents
For each additional player within a group: 1 Large military tent
Substitutions. Civilian tents may be substituted for 1 barrel. Large military tents may be substituted for 2 barrels.
Examples:
A single player receives 2 civilian tents.
A group of 2 players receive 2 civilian tents and 1 large military tent.
A group of 3 players receive 2 civilian tents and 2 large military tents.
A group of 6 players receive 2 civilian tents and 5 large military tents.
Founding members:
All founding members (members that filed a charter during the launch month of May, 2019) will receive 1 additional civilian tent. This can also be substituted for 1 barrel.
Car storage within secured base walls are limited to 2 cars.
Players and groups who have bases on Iron Curtain may request to register additional members for their group and move a base location through a support ticket within the #support channel within Discord.
To provide varied gameplay for traditional DayZ along with base raiding/defense while minimizing unfair play and the inherent PvO element, Iron Curtain operates on a raiding schedule whereby all bases are indestructible Sunday-Friday. Base raiding is allowed only on Saturdays from 4pm - 11pm UTC, unless otherwise posted, at which time walls can be destroyed by sledgehammers. Sledgehammers are tweaked to be rare and require 10 minutes per wall to break through.
Traders on Iron Curtain are configured to allow for diverse playing styles and an additional PvE element, while maintaining a a survival feel and balance within the server. Each trader's item availability, price and buying power is configured to meet with the risk associated with visiting each location.
The General Trader at Kumyrna: within a safe zone and selling all items except military equipment. Items here cost more and items sold sell for less within a safe zone. Additionally, the safe zone allows for player-to-player trading and interaction.
The Military Trader at Green Mountain: unprotected and selling all items including advanced military equipment. Items sold here cost less than the General Trader and are worth more when selling.
With the exception of pistols, no guns are sold or cars are sold at any trader; only supplemental items. Certain items can only be acquired naturally from within the game.
Cheating of any kind will result in a permanent ban without warning.
Language and behavior outside of the server rules is not policed.
Storage containers may not be stolen from another player. These are provisioned by admin. Any container existing outside a registered charter’s coordinates will be deleted and offending players/groups permabanned.
No base combination locks or entry points may be changed to prevent the owner from entering their base.
All activity is subject to be monitored to ensure fair gameplay.
Glitches and problems with DayZ or the game engine are not regulated nor compensated for any reason.
Failure to obey admin requests, filing any kind of false report or request, and/or bothering admin outside of the rules and disclosures in any way is subjected to permabanning. Admins donate time and we regulate only what is necessary for the server to function properly and fairly for all players.
The server may close registration for bases at any time in order to keep the server healthy for its playerbase.
Aside from the mods, the only aspect of this server that is truly unique is that players and groups who wish to possess a base and storage containers must register themselves in the Iron Curtain Discord.

No. You can only receive storage items through filing a base charter for yourself or group.
By controlling this aspect of the game, we can regulate better how many items are stored, which largely helps with server performance, keeps the loot economy healthier and provides better and more fair administration in other areas.
Yes, single players can and must file a charter to get permission to build a base and receive their storage containers. A single player receives two civilian tents.
Stealing any container is prohibited and a bannable offense. These are provisioned to a player or group through the server admins when filing a charter, and are expected to be at the location defined within the group’s charter. After resolution, the storage container(s) will be returned to the player by admin.
You can build anywhere with the exception of restricted areas (see Rules). However, it is strongly advised that you build your base in an enclosed structure where the tops of any of your walls are not accessible by boosting, placing object on the outside to jump over or popular glitching techniques. Failure to do so may result in admin’s decisions on rectifying issues.
You can. We regularly monitor and check coordinates. If we find a building is not legal (no charter) then it gets destroyed and offending player banned.
Base raiding is allowed and announced at specific times - typically, this is regularly opened on Saturdays, unless otherwise noted or rescheduled.
DayZ and bases go together like pasta and blueberry sauce. It’s poorly implemented by default. That being said, we believe the purity of DayZ is not a base raiding/defense game, where most raids occur when players are offline and with no chance of defense. If you want that, there are plenty of servers that offer that 24/7. Iron Curtain sets aside a timeframe and allows the game to change to that mode for a selective time period. If that’s not what you’re seeking or that timeframe doesn’t fit in your particular schedule - or if you’re Polish and you like pasta and blueberries - then you probably want to look elsewhere.
Obtaining legitimate entry to a base (e.g., by killing players whilst the front door is open) is allowed at all times. Build better.
Cars in general in DayZ are extremely fickle. There exists a default inbalance between the time invested in building a car and the risk of losing the car - either through gameplay or from DayZ itself.

If you feel you’ve not been finding something specific after a fair amount of time, we’re happy to hear about it within reason. This feedback is helpful as we monitor server performance, continue to improve the server and correct problems with an already piecemeal game engine. However, do not spam with complaints that you didn’t find an SVD within 5 minutes. We will ban for such things that waste our time. There are plenty of servers out there that will baby players; this is a survival server.
You can’t. If you’re banned, we know what we’re doing, we know what you did and we don’t care.
Alt accounts are not allowed and using alts is a bannable offense - not just for the player but also for any associated groups.
We chose the mods on this server very carefully, based on scope, credibility, mod developer’s activity, developer competency, what value each provide to the server and how we want them shaped. We’re happy to take suggestions, but we do not pop mods in and out of the server regularly for the sake of consistency and stability.
Chances are, God isn’t interested in what you have to say if you’re asking this question. However, we don’t care what you build. If what you build is affecting the server’s performance above and beyond something we deem reasonable or affects the server in a way we do not want, you will be taking it down. Use good judgement.
Report it immediately, note the exact time and provide evidence (screenshots, record video, etc.). We will address it immediately and discretely. Fighting cheaters is something that everyone needs to participate in and, as such, try to be prepared to take screenshots and video while you play. Filing false reports or bothering admins with guesswork is a bannable offense.
This is a game.
The loot is tweaked - and continues to be evaluated as necessary - to provide rarity in specific aspects and in the interest of maintaining a true survival feel as we believe DayZ intended to be in its best version.
At this time, we have only increased stamina slightly and tuned health regen down. The default settings for these attributes were too extreme in either direction to fit within a survival setting. This is subject to change as we and the developers evolve aspects of the game.
No. While other servers accept donations, it is typical that those provide a public or hidden quid pro quo. We do not accept donations nor provide any items to players under any circumstances other than what is outlined in the server rules for the objective of keeping the server stable or resolving cheating.
Providing a set of materials to assist in transferring a group’s grind from another server to a similar base structure on Iron Curtain is a very important judgement call. In every case, the group must demonstrate a degree of integrity, trustworthiness, organization, purpose and provide a convincing set of evidence for what the group had invested in previously on another server. An interview assists in putting that evidence into an appropriate context. If you were denied, no need to be offended - these qualifications were simply not met to satisfaction and we were not convinced beyond the obvious doubts from people which would seek to abuse this. This is an important evaluation for something that seeks to add to everyone’s experience, so is therefore very scrutinized. If you don’t pass, that’s fine, you can still file a charter and build as you normally would.
No. Transfers are going to be commensurate with the size of the group and within reason. You aren’t getting unlimited nails to build something your fat mother can live in. Get her on a diet and consider moving out.
Short of not breaking any server rules, we do not police language or player behavior in any way. We have our own lives and time is valuable. We do not get into subjective debates about what’s appropriate. Unless you’re new to the Internet, you know what’s out there. Ignore or grow a backbone. If people want to be a jerk, go kill them in game. If at anytime admin doesn’t like what’s going on, feels it takes away from the server or in any way insults our admins or any operation, admin will immediately permaban without discussion.

That’s always difficult to predict in the far future. It’s not going to be gone in a month, but DayZ is one of our favorite gaming environments and we seek to keep this one pure and long-term where so many servers do not. Iron Curtain will be around for as long as it can provide that experience in the way it should be.
Our goal is stability with a pure DayZ experience. Some of that also means keeping the conversation of “how the server is run” or invading the experience with “admin stuff” to a minimum. Events, when executed, will be natural to the game environment. The main event is your adventure. Admin events on many servers tend to lead to admin abuse or ruining portions of the game that are best left alone, and neither of those are happening here.
DayZ doesn’t run effectively and maintain in the long-term above a certain level. We don’t want a server that crashes every 5 minutes, wipes every other week or cannot be effectively managed. There are plenty of 100+ pop servers that attract a questionable quality of player by allowing the greatest rewards to be easily attainable. Our focus is stability, longevity and maintaining a pure experience.
For your emotional stability - no. There is a safe zone at the General Trader in Kumyrna, which provides a place for players to meet, exchange and buy general items safely at a higher price. It is doubtful that you will find anyone there to help you with emotional stability.
It’s DayZ.
You can’t. We host a number of gaming environments; staff are already selected from the company which hosts the server and are there to not infect the gameplay of the playerbase. We may occasionally ask regular players who demonstrate ability to moderate discord and provide assistance to the playerbase.
